The compensated seat design ensures a reliable seal for the ball valve. At low pressure, the seal is obtained by the seat under disc loading. Under high pressure, the valve ball moves downstream under the action of medium pressure, causing the downstream seat to flex and strengthen the seal, while the upstream seat maintains the seal under the action of the seat disc spring.
